Osia® 2

I'm experiencing tightness or discomfort at my implant site.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot your sound processor.

  1. Try a Cochlear SoftWear™ Pad

The Cochlear SoftWear™ Pad is an optional accessory that can help improve comfort when wearing your sound processor.

    To apply the SoftWear Pad:

    • Remove any existing SoftWear Pad from the sound processor.
    • Peel off the backing from the adhesive side of the pad.
    • Attach the pad to the back of the sound processor and press firmly.
    • Remove the backing from the cushion side of the pad.
    • Wear the sound processor as usual.
Note: Watch a video on how to apply a Cochlear SoftWear™ Pad. After attaching a Cochlear SoftWear™ Pad, you may require a stronger magnet and a new feedback calibration measurement. Consult your hearing health professional.

If the discomfort persists, continue to the next step.

  2. Check any retention devices

If you are using a retention device, such as a headband or other accessory, it may be placing additional pressure on your sound processor.

Adjust or remove the retention device and check whether comfort improves.

If the discomfort persists, continue to the next step.

  3. Your magnet may be too strong

A magnet that is stronger than necessary can cause tightness or discomfort at the implant site. Contact your hearing health professional to discuss changing to a weaker magnet. If needed, use a retention aid such as a Safety Line to help keep the sound processor in place.

Watch a video on changing the magnet on your Osia® 3 Sound Processor.

  4. Contact your Healthcare Professional

If you continue to experience discomfort, or if you notice redness, swelling, skin irritation, soreness, or pain at the implant site, contact your healthcare professional.

Note: You may need a stronger magnet and new feedback calibration measurement after attaching the Cochlear SoftWear Pad.
