My battery doesn't last as long as expected, even when it's fully charged.
-
How old is the battery?
The amount of charge a battery holds naturally diminishes over time. Batteries should be replaced as needed just as you would with any other electronic device. Battery life varies according to the age of the battery, programs used each day, your implant type, the thickness of skin covering your implant, and the size and type of battery. -
Are the battery contacts clean?
Make sure there's no dirt or dust on the battery, the charger, or the battery contacts on the sound processor. You'll find easy step-by-step pointers for how to clean these items in your Nucleus 8 Sound Processor User Guide. -
Are you using disposable batteries?
For disposable batteries, we recommend size 675 (PR44), specifically designed for cochlear implants. Don't use silver oxide or alkaline batteries. Note: Let new disposable batteries stand for a few seconds after you peel off the plastic cover and before you put them into your sound processor. -
Can you try a different rechargeable battery?
If you have another rechargeable battery, does it last longer than the one you're having trouble with? If it does, this could mean the original battery is losing its charge capacity with age. -
