Nucleus® 6

My sound processor switches on or off by itself.

  1. Is Auto power off enabled?

If it is, your sound processor will switch off after you've taken if off and it's not connected to the implant for more than two minutes. You can check with your clinician if you're unsure.
  2. Make sure you're using the correct batteries.

For disposable batteries, use the ones we recommend – 675 (PR44) zinc air batteries designed for cochlear implants. Don't use silver oxide or alkaline batteries. Note: Let new disposable batteries stand for a few seconds after you peel off their plastic cover and before you put them into your sound processor.
  3. Make sure there's no dirt or dust on the battery contacts.

You'll find tips for how to clean these items on page 40 of the user guide.
  4. Replace the batteries.

You'll find a step-by-step guide for how to do this on page 7 of the user guide.
